This supervisory position reports to the Controller and manages the accounts payable team of technicians in the Financial Services Division. The incumbent oversees the accounts payable processes in the North Carolina Financial System (NCFS), establishes policies and procedures, monitors payment timeliness, develops and conducts training, and ensures a positive customer experience. The role requires independent work and timely response to management assignments and division inquiries.
Key Responsibilities- Supervises 4 accounting technicians.
- Processes invoices, grant payments, and employee expense reimbursements accurately and on time.
- Develops accounts payable policy, procedures, and provides training to department staff.
- Researches, analyzes, and solves problems related to NCFS payments.
- Ensures compliance with State Controller, State Budget, and departmental policies and procedures.
- Communicates with internal and external parties regarding payment status and processing.
- Tracks and reports payment timeliness and analyzes trends to improve performance.
- Salary Range: $43,738.00 – $79,504.00
- Minimum
Education and Experience:- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, or a related curriculum that provides core financial management coursework from an accredited institution;
- Associate’s degree in accounting from an accredited institution and three (3) years of accounting or auditing experience;
- High school or GED diploma and four (4) years of experience as an accounting technician, three of which at an advanced technical level or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of IRS 1099 reporting requirements.
- Experience with the North Carolina Financial System (NCFS) is preferred but not required.
- Hybrid telework option available for routine office and remote workdays.
