We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Correspondence Clerk.
Responsibilities- Receive, open, and sort mail for Inpatient, Outpatient, and Credit & Collections.
- Hand deliver interoffice envelopes within the Finance Department.
- Prepare checks for receipting by reviewing and sorting them according to specific type bundles.
- Identify correspondence with account numbers and distribute to the appropriate area within the Department.
- Identify and copy selected denial letters for Finance and refer to scanning; assign batch numbers and reconcile entries for Daily Cash and Daily Adjustment Logs.
- Use TCE reports to track daily postings, correct inaccuracies, and distribute information to the appropriate staff.
- Reconcile Medicare Electronic Payment Log entries with the TCE Report and obtain corrections when needed.
- Maintain awareness of outstanding TCE issues with the Billing Supervisor.
- Process attorney requests for itemized bills from the Medical Records Department.
- Update patient address information using Post Office address correction forms in FMS.
- Distribute daily reports and obtain missing reports by coordinating with Information Services or using available systems.
- Scan inpatient/outpatient documents into accounts/folders with appropriate headings; file EOBs and related documents and manage storage boxes as needed.
- Post patient payments in the account system, reconcile amounts, and make corrections as necessary.
- Perform daily reconciliation of outpatient workers’ compensation and no-fault claims; verify claims against the Epremis report and ensure printing of all claims.
- Print account information from Document Imaging and batch claims with account information for referral to Vendor box.
- Answer phones and take messages for the Business Office; assist with general clerical duties as assigned.
- Complete the filing process and coordinate with warehouse to manage paper files and boxes.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to use Microsoft Windows and operate in a computerized environment.
- Ability to interpret reports and maintain attention to detail in a highly computerized setting.
- Experience with calculator/adding machine and standard office equipment.
- Good organizational and analytical skills; strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact with personnel, agencies, law offices, and patients.
- Flexibility to perform multiple tasks and ability to work independently and complete duties accurately and timely.
