Receptionist

Reports to:
Administration

Purpose:

To contribute to effective school‑community relationships by prompt and courteous handling of all inquiries and visitors and to contribute to the efficiency of the Central Office by performing assigned duties.

Responsibilities
  • Follow established guidelines for providing access to the school through the main doors and greeting all visitors.
  • As the first contact with the public, maintain a positive, professional and productive image and attitude.
  • Keep office lobby organized – magazines, newspapers.
  • Answer telephones and route calls to the appropriate staff.
  • Distribute mail in office mailboxes.
  • Maintain mailroom – keep forms up‑to‑date, keep clean.
  • Maintain copier – toner, paper, etc.
  • Run office errands as assigned by Principal.
  • As available, take initiative to seek out tasks that can be completed for other staff members.
  • Complete tasks as requested of other staff including, but not limited to, folding letters, stuffing envelopes, affixing postage and typing assignments.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Principal.
Knowledge and Abilities
  • Knowledge of general office practices.
  • Ability to operate standard office machines.
  • Ability to communicate (oral and written) effectively with the public; use correct grammar, spelling, and mechanics in writing.
  • Ability to use a computer and basic software programs.
  • Ability to relate to the public and other employees in a pleasant and professional manner.
  • Ability to problem‑solve situations and refer to the appropriate department.
Training and Experience
  • High School Diploma and two years of employment in an administrative office or equivalent combination of education and work experience preferred.
  • Training or experience in the use of both Microsoft Office and Google platforms preferred.

Position Type: Full‑Time

Job Requirements
  • High School/Trade School degree preferred.
  • Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
