Senior Processing Assistant
Brunswick County Department of Social Services is accepting applications for a Senior Processing Assistant to join our Child Support Team. We are a forward-thinking, customer-focused organization that believes in treating others as we want to be treated. We are looking for the right person to join our team. The Senior Processing Assistant provides technical, administrative, and customer service support to the Child Support Unit in accordance with federal and state Child Support regulations.
This position serves as an important resource for both staff and the public by providing intake services, maintaining records, processing documents, and supporting the daily operations of the unit. Job responsibilities include:
- Providing administrative and technical support to the Child Support Unit.
- Greeting customers and conducting initial interviews and intake for Child Support services.
- Answering and directing calls, assisting customers, and serving as backup to the department receptionist as needed.
- Processing and monitoring information within the North Carolina Automated Collection and Tracking System (ACTS).
- Compiling, maintaining, and monitoring records, reports, and other confidential documents.
- Scanning, filing, copying, and performing other clerical and administrative duties.
- Working efficiently in multiple computer programs to support daily operations.
The ideal candidate will possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Strong computer skills with the ability to learn and navigate multiple software applications.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality while exercising sound judgment and independent decision-making.
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and timeliness.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work collaboratively with team members, community partners, and agency leadership.
- Positive, professional attitude and commitment to providing exceptional customer service.
Must be available to work during emergency situations.
Education and ExperienceGraduation from technical college and one year experience in coordinating activities, clerical work, social service programs and/or work in law enforcement or law office; or Graduation from high school and two years of experience in clerical work, social service programs and/or work in law enforcement or law office; or An equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Physical RequirementsMust be physically able to operate a variety of automated office machines, which include typewriters, calculators, copiers, facsimile machines, etc. Must be able to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pound of force frequently, or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
