Administrative Specialist I (S)
Salary Range: $39,244.00-$68,679.00
This position is located at Bertie Correctional Institution in Windsor, NC. Reporting to the Administrative Officer at a multi-level custody male correctional facility, these positions responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Working knowledge of all job functions and duties outlining Benefits, Time, and Leave Administration
- Maintaining confidentiality when performing work and/or resolving personnel issues.
- Working Knowledge of processing Leave of Absence and Separation packages.
- Demonstrating flexibility when non-routine task are assigned.
- Review completed tasks for accuracy and with attention to detail.
- Hiring and onboarding
- Interview Process and employment background checks
This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits. Work Schedule is Monday – Friday, 8am-5pm and may require working beyond normal work schedule to meet the business needs.

- Documented knowledge of human resource, personnel functions.
- Documented experience using Microsoft Officer and/or any related software.
- Documented experience carrying out both oral and written instructions.

The Division of Institutions manages the daily operations of all state-operated prison facilities across North Carolina. Facilities are categorized by custody levels (minimum, medium, close) and house individuals serving sentences for felony convictions. The division provides safety, security, and rehabilitative services through trained custody staff, program facilitators, and administrative personnel.
The North Carolina Department of Adult Correction (NCDAC) uses the Merit-Based Recruitment and Selection Plan to fill positions with the most qualified individuals.
