Job Overview
Performs intermediate administrative support work in the processing of a variety of permit applications; does related work as required. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Chief Code Enforcement Officer/Chief Building Inspector.
Job Responsibilities- Serves as receptionist, greets visitors; answers telephone and routes calls; logs calls and fields all inquiries, concerns or needs to their respective departments.
- Schedules and coordinates inspections according to areas for building inspections; coordinates inspections with other departments as needed.
- Receives permit fees; prints report and maintains for daily report and deposit.
- Gathers and compiles data for monthly and quarterly reports.
- Enters, verifies, and retrieves information from specialized software and/or manuals.
- Operates office equipment; performs clerical, typing, and filing tasks.
- Performs related tasks as required.
General knowledge of permit processing; general knowledge of departmental programs, policies and procedures; general knowledge of standard office methods and procedures, business English, spelling and commercial arithmetic and office management; ability to perform a considerable volume of detailed record work; ability to type accurately at a reasonable rate of speed; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and the general public.
This is light work requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally; up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects; work requires crouching, reaching, pushing, lifting, fingering, grasping and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required expressing or exchanging ideas by means of spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or make fine distinctions in sound;
visual acuity is required for depth perception, color perception, peripheral vision, preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operation of machines, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is not substantially exposed to the adverse environmental conditions.
