Position: Museum Operations Coordinator - #165406
Location: Cullowhee

Position Summary

Location:

On-site in Cullowhee, NC. This role is subject to the State of North Carolina Human Resources Act (SHRA). The primary purpose is to coordinate administrative, operational, communication, and visitor-facing support for the Mountain Heritage Center.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparing museum correspondence and other communications.
  • Supporting the Center’s website and social media platforms.
  • Interacting with students, faculty, staff, the public, vendors, and outside contractors.
  • Coordinating employment, orientation, scheduling, timesheet reporting, and selected project work of student workers and interns.
  • Tracking multiple schedules for staff, events, special programs, and overall workflow.
  • Introducing visitors to the museum and providing orientation information about MHC programs and exhibits.
  • Preparing budgets, contracts, purchasing documents, and work orders; tracking expenditures from state and non-state funds; maintaining paper records and electronic databases; producing reports on visitation, programming, student and community engagement, and operational information; ensuring compliance with MHC, WCU, state, and federal policies and regulations regarding records, privacy, and sensitive materials.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required
  • Knowledge of administrative office practices, records management procedures, budgeting support functions, and the use of computer applications, office equipment, and digital communication tools to support daily operations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse internal and external audiences through written, verbal, electronic, and in-person communication, including public contact, visitor assistance, and program-related outreach.
  • Ability to organize work, manage multiple schedules and priorities, exercise initiative, maintain attention to detail, and work collaboratively with staff, students, interns, volunteers, vendors, and campus or community partners.
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.

Position Details

Anticipated Hiring Range: $39,784.

Position Type:
Permanent Full-Time.

Number of Hours per Week: 40.

Number of Months per Year: 12.

Salary Band Range: $33,540 – $54,455.

Salary Grade: 59.
