Location: Spruce Pine

Job Title

Under general supervision, is responsible for performing routine clerical duties and customer service activities, organizing, scheduling, and budget tracking to assist the Director of Basic Law Enforcement Training.

Position is part-time up to 29 hours per week.

Primary Duties
  • Creates instructor intent to hire and contracts
  • Prepares and maintains current and past BLET cadet files
  • Updates and creates BLET Instructor Files
  • Manage BLET and CJC classroom schedules
  • Manages and schedules new student interviews for BLET Director
  • Provides support to BLET Director and instructors
  • Copies lesson plans for instructors and emails copies of the handout, lesson plan, test w/key, and BLET calendar to instructors
  • Maintains the BLET school calendar
  • Prepares BLET packets for new students
  • Assists with BLET recruitment events
  • Assist with maintaining NC Training and Standards Commissions for accreditation
  • Assist with maintaining files compliant with NC Training and Standards Division
Minimum Qualifications

Associates Degree Required. Two years of clerical related or records management experience or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Considerable knowledge of personal computers, including the Microsoft Office Suite, and internet and e-mail services or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

  • Considerable knowledge of modern office practices and clerical procedures
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and time management skills
  • Ability to deal tactfully and courteously with members of the Board of Trustees, college staff, students, and with the general public.
  • Good public relations and communication skills
  • Considerable discretion in the handling of confidential information and sensitive materials.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other employees.
Preferred Qualifications

Clerical experience in the community college system is preferred.
