About UsThe NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies with more than 14,000 employees. It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes state prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as probation/parole officers who supervised sentenced people in the community.
Other divisions include Administration, Health Services, Rehabilitation & Reentry, Special Operations and the Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission. We have a mission that matters!
Reporting to a Correctional Associate Warden at a multi-custody female correctional facility, the position's primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Completing basic secretarial duties while using Department of Adult Correction (DAC) unit policies and procedures and communicating information involving programs, functions, and services.
- Communicating frequently with the public through direct phone calls, taking messages, answering questions, using sound judgement, and discretion on how to handle confidential and public information received, as it relates to the facility.
- Working well and communicating well with others and being able to handle daily contact with the general public via telephone, direct contact or email, and being able to work in an environment with numerous interruptions.
- Acting in a courteous and professional manner at all times with the general public, co-workers and offenders.
- Preparing documents and reports, composing memos and letters, use of office technology, compiling records, organizing and maintaining files.
Candidate must meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they meet the Minimum Education and Experience listed on the vacancy announcement. The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)/Management Preferences are not required but applicants who possess the following skills are preferred:

Salary Range: $31,200 - $51,249

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with established working hours of Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm and may require working beyond normal work schedule to meet business needs.
About Anson Correctional InstitutionAnson Correctional Institution houses female offenders in medium and close custody housing units. Anson CI offers a wide variety of educational, vocational, and training programs. Correction Enterprises operates the offender packaging operation at Anson, a partnership with Union Supply Direct through the Prison Industry Enhancement Program (PIE). Family and friends can order a package of goods from a pre-approved shopping list to send to an offender.
Orders are packaged by offenders and shipped quarterly.
