Correctional Facility Administrator (NS)

Reporting directly to the South Central Region Director, this position functions as Warden IV and is part of the management team. This position serves at the pleasure of agency leadership. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Managing the total operation of the prison facility including Administration, Custody, Food Service, Maintenance, and Programs.
• Setting goals and priorities for each component within the facility and making modifications, as needed.
• Developing and implementing long-range plans for the facility including future missions, programming, and operational needs.
• Providing direct involvement with hiring, discipline, and training of employees.
• Gather, evaluate, and report facility related data to support informed decision making and operational improvement.

Required Adverse Weather Reporting:
This position is designated as "Mandatory" and must report or stay over during adverse weather events.

Salary Grade Range: $70,627.00 - $

Candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they meet the minimum education and experience listed on the vacancy announcement. The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)/ Management Preferences are not required. Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred:

• Demonstrated knowledge of supportive counseling techniques used to guide, motivate, and assist staff or service recipients
• Strong understanding of community resources and available services across public and private programs, with the ability to connect individuals or teams to appropriate supports.

This Position Is Exempt and Is EXEMPT From Certain Provisions of the State Human Resources Act (GS 126).

• Pass a criminal background check
• Produce a negative drug screening result
• Successfully complete medical and psychological evaluations
• Possess a valid driver's license

The Division of Institutions manages the daily operations of all state-operated prison facilities across North Carolina. Facilities are categorized by custody levels (minimum, medium, close) and house individuals serving sentences for felony convictions. The division provides safety, security, and rehabilitative services through trained custody staff, program facilitators, and administrative personnel.

About Harnett Correctional Institution:

Harnett Correctional Institution is located in Lillington, North Carolina and houses up to 988 male offenders in a medium custody facility.
