The Grade Foreman is responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities of workers engaged in grading and preparing land for construction projects, such as roads, highways, and other infrastructure. This role oversees equipment operation, ensures quality standards, enforces safety protocols, and liaises with project managers to meet construction specifications and project timelines.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise grading crews and assign tasks based on project requirements and skill sets.
- Coordinate the use of equipment including bulldozers, graders, scrapers, and compactors.
- Inspect project sites and completed work to ensure compliance with specifications and safety standards.
- Monitor progress and productivity, adjusting strategies as necessary to meet project deadlines.
- Support project managers with scheduling, reporting, and resource management.
- Maintain records of daily site activities and personnel attendance.
- Promote a culture of safety and ensure crew adherence to OSHA regulations and company policies.
- Assist with training and onboarding new crew members.
- Communicate regularly with suppliers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in grading or site construction, with at least 1 year of supervisory experience.
- Valid driver's license.
- Strong understanding of grading principles, earthmoving equipment, and techniques.
- Knowledge of workplace safety regulations (OSHA).
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and plans.
- Competence in scheduling and coordinating tasks.
- Associate degree or vocational training in construction management or related field.
- Experience with GPS machine control systems.
- Bilingual (English and Spanish).
- Certification in construction safety or site management.
- Familiarity with project management software.
