Position OverviewWe’re seeking a talented and versatile Commercial Designer/Production Assistant to join our team. In this role, you’ll work to support a wide range of design projects/clients. This is a great opportunity to build your portfolio while collaborating with a team that values fresh ideas and high-quality work.
This role is ideal for a designer who enjoys seeing their work fabricated, installed, and experienced in real spaces, and who understands the relationship between design, materials, and production.
We’re looking for someone who understands & has experienced that design:

- Has real-world constraints
- Assist with the conceptualization and execution of commercial and environmental design projects
- Create original designs tailored to client needs, with consideration for scale, materials, and real-world use
- Revise designs based on client, project manager, and production team feedback
- Prepare production-ready and print-ready files for large-format output and fabrication
- Operate and maintain plotters and large-format printers (Onyx software)
- Manage printing, proofing, and color matching to ensure output quality and consistency
- Collaborate with project managers, fabricators, and installers to meet deadlines and specs
- Read and interpret blueprints, plans, measurements, and installation drawings
- Work on projects involving interior environments, signage systems, and branded spaces
- Perform vinyl cutting, weeding, application, and laminating as needed
- Assist with fabrication and assembly of signage and displays
- Support shop workflow and production needs as required
- Stay current with tools, materials, and best practices in commercial design
- Show willingness to be trained and learn new skills across design and production
- Proven graphic design experience, preferably in commercial, environmental, or signage settings
- Familiarity with interior design projects and sign shop workflows
- Hands-on experience on production floor
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator and Photoshop required)
- Experience with plotters and large-format printers, especially Onyx software
- Skills in vinyl work, laminating, and basic fabrication
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and scaled drawings
- Strong visual judgment and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Clear communication skills and a collaborative mindset
- Experience with printing processes and color matching
- Willingness to be trained, learn on the job, and travel as needed (primarily Southeast)
- Portfolio must include commercial, environmental, signage, retail, or large-format work
- Note:
