Filming Assistant - Maroon Devil Network
The Filming Assistant supports the Maroon Devil Network by filming and assisting with the live production and broadcast of Swain County Schools athletic events and other school activities as needed. This position also provides technical support for audiovisual equipment and production operations when assigned.
The Filming Assistant will:- Film live athletic events and other school-sponsored activities for the Maroon Devil Network.
- Assist with the setup, operation, and breakdown of cameras, tripods, audio equipment, and other production equipment.
- Operate video production equipment and assist with live streaming and recording of events.
- Ensure high-quality video and audio production during broadcasts.
- Perform basic troubleshooting of audiovisual equipment during events.
- Assist with the technical operation of systems within the Swain Arts Center, including:
- Sound systems, including microphones, audio mixers, and music playback equipment.
- Video projection systems, including front and rear projection.
- Lighting control systems and basic lighting troubleshooting.
- Safe operation of the theatrical fly system, when trained and assigned.
- Follow all standard operating procedures established by the Swain Arts Center and Swain County Schools.
- Maintain equipment in a clean, organized, and operational condition.
- Perform other duties related to audiovisual production as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience operating video production, audiovisual, or theatrical technical equipment preferred.
- Two (2) years of experience in live event production, video production, broadcasting, or a theatrical technical setting preferred.
- Ability to learn new technologies and production systems.
- Reliable transportation.
- Knowledge of video recording and live-streaming equipment.
- Basic understanding of audio, lighting, and video production.
- Ability to troubleshoot minor technical issues.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and other hours as needed for athletic events.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Professional demeanor when interacting with students, staff, and the public.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to climb ladders and work at heights.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to safely move and set up production equipment.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions during athletic events.
This is an as-needed, non-exempt hourly position. Hours will vary based on athletic schedules and other production needs. This position is not eligible for benefits.
Rate of Pay: $15.00 per hour.
