Dental Hygienist-Southern Correctional

The NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies with more than 14,000 employees. It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes state prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as probation/parole officers who supervised sentenced people in the community.

The Dental Hygienist position is located at services to offenders at Southern Correctional Institution in Montgomery County, NC. Reporting to the Dentist. Position is responsible for performing the following duties under the general supervision of a licensed dentist:

Examining teeth of patients and makes referrals to dentist, applies topical fluorides and performing dental prophylaxis in the prevention of dental diseases, Records findings and maintains records on dental status and services rendered to patients, Instructs patients on the proper care of teeth,
Recommends measures for the prevention of dental diseases, assists the dentist in planning and carrying out dental health programs. This position may assist Dentists in other facilities, in the South-Central Region, as needed.

The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)/ Management Preferences are not required. Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred:

Documented Knowledge in the application of the techniques and practices of dental hygiene.

Documented working skills using dental equipment, instrumentation and radiographic techniques.

Salary Range: $61,177 - $91,767
