Edenton, NC – OB/GYN Physician (Call Coverage) Locum Tenens
24-Hour Call Shifts | Low-Volume Community Hospital | Epic EMR | January Coverage Needed
Rhino Medical is leading the charge seeking a Board-Certified OB/GYN Physician to provide hospital call coverage in a well-supported, low-volume community setting in Edenton, North Carolina. This assignment offers predictable 24-hour shifts, manageable delivery volume, and strong specialty support through the ECU Health system.
This is a highly organized program ideal for OB physicians seeking short-term, call-only locums with seamless workflows and transfer resources.
Assignment Details
- Location: Edenton, North Carolina
- Setting: Community Hospital + Established Women’s Care Practice
- Facility Type: 25-Bed Hospital
- Contract Type: Locum Tenens – OB Hospital Call
- Shifts Needed (24-hr, 8a–8a):
- January 8–9
- January 12–13
- January 15–16
- Clinical Scope: 100% inpatient
- Call Response Time: ? 20 minutes
- EMR: Epic
- Environment: Low-volume Emergency Department (7 beds), no ICU involvement
The covering OB/GYN will be responsible for:
Labor & Delivery
- Vaginal deliveries
- Cesarean deliveries
- Shoulder dystocia & obstetric emergency management
- Postpartum rounding
- Manage unassigned OB patients
- Cover all L&D and OB-related ED presentations
- No ICU responsibilities
- No code response required
- Supported transfers: ECU Health Air & Ground available for immediate escalation
- 28–34 deliveries per month
- Small community setting with predictable patient flow
- Board Certified OB/GYN (required)
- Active & unrestricted North Carolina license
- Comfortable with both vaginal & cesarean deliveries
- Able to respond to hospital within 20 minutes
- Clean file preferred for faster onboarding
If the locums provider continues beyond 6 months, the following certifications must be obtained:
- ALSO – Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics (current)
- AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring course (completed within the last 2 years)
- NRP – Neonatal Resuscitation Program (required for all community OB physicians)
- Manageable delivery volume in a supportive hospital environment
- Straightforward call-only schedule
- Clean Epic EMR workflows
- 24/7 transfer capability for high-risk cases
- Scenic waterfront town with serene downtime between calls
