Principal and EC Director

Job Description:

Provides special education services to preschool-aged students (ages 3-5) who have been identified as exceptional children, in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations. This itinerant position includes travel to and instruction within various settings such as homes, child care centers, and community-based programs. The teacher is responsible for the development and implementation of individualized education programs (IEPs), delivery of specially designed instruction, and collaboration with families and school personnel.

This role includes case management duties for students in the referral, evaluation, and eligibility process, as well as ongoing support for assigned students. The teacher also serves as a consultant to general education teachers to support inclusive practices and interventions. Reports to the Director of Exceptional Children Services and the EC Pre-K Coordinator.

Job Responsibilities:

* Develops and implements legally defensible individualized education programs (IEPs) for eligible students.

* Provides direct special education instruction in itinerant settings including homes, child care centers, and community sites.

* Serves as case manager for assigned students, including those undergoing initial evaluation and eligibility determination.

* Consults and collaborates with classroom teachers, families, and related service providers to implement interventions and support inclusive practices for students with disabilities.

Monitors student progress on an ongoing basis and adjusts instruction accordingly.

* Designs and adapts specialized instructional materials, activities, and equipment to meet individual student needs.

* Conducts informal assessments to guide instruction and document progress toward IEP goals.

* Provides written progress reports to parents at the end of each 9-week reporting period.

* Maintains accurate records and documentation in compliance with NC Rules and Regulations Governing Children with Special Needs.

* Utilizes the ECATS data management system to track student plans and progress.

* Demonstrates familiarity with curriculum and assessment tools including Teaching Strategies.

* Maintains confidentiality in all matters related to students and families.

* Performs other related duties as assigned.

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT :
Ten Months

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provision of the
