Location: Burnsville

Under the general supervision of the Associate Vice President of Economic & Workforce Development, this position serves as the Administrator of the Yancey Learning Center (YLC) and is responsible for ensuring the academic quality of all Continuing Education classes delivered on-site and off-site in Yancey County. The role operates with a high level of autonomy, ensuring the location provides an environment conducive to learning.

The Administrator provides leadership for operational and fiscal functions, engages actively in community initiatives, and fosters strong relationships with relevant agencies, organizations, governmental entities, and educational institutions.

Staff and Instructors

* Manage the recruitment and selection process for new instructors and staff for YLC Workforce and Continuing Education programs

* Oversee the evaluation and supervision of Continuing Education instructors in Yancey County, both on-site and off-site

* Assists in the coordination and support of curriculum classes held at the YLC

* Supervise assigned staff

* Maintain a record system and database of course instructors suitable for various occupational, community services, and other instructional areas

* Supervise the process of resolving staff, instructor, and/or student problems at the YLC

Institutional

* Submit assessment/evaluation reports in accordance with institutional requirements

* Develop annual goals for the YLC, and support divisional and institutional initiatives

* Develop Continuing Education and Workforce Development programming based on community need

* Develop schedules of continuing education classes and programs

* Evaluate trends in the local employment market and workforce development to design and implement relevant training opportunities

* Provide general oversight of Curriculum and Continuing Education classes held onsite, ensuring instructors, students, and facilities have the resources they need

* Foster collaboration and effective communication with all areas of the college

* Assist in the development, enhancement, and implementation of divisional strategies

* Assist in the completion of the Program Review, thereby enhancing the strength and integrity of Workforce programs in relation to SACSCOC accreditation.

* Identify and implement innovative instructional approaches that benefit students and the college

* Other duties as assigned

Registration and record keeping

* Maintain site information for program auditors and generate required reports

* Visit a specified number of classes each semester to monitor accountability and credibility, and complete the required class visitation report

* Oversee all records and registration activities at the YLC

* Oversight of record archiving processes to preserve documentation of class activities

Community

* Maintain strong working relationships with county government, public service agencies, business leaders, and community partners

* Participate in county organizations to promote the college's mission

* Work to promote good student-instructor-community relations

* Build strong relationships with stakeholders of Yancey County, including the local high school, fire departments, and emergency services agencies

* Oversees special programs, events, and/or camps as assigned

Marketing and recruitment

* Promotes YLC learning opportunities and collaborates with Mayland's Director of Marketing as needed

* Represent and promote college programs, mission, and values by attending community meetings and events

* Generate, publicize, and advertise occupational and self-supporting classes in the tabloid each semester

* Prepare weekly promotional content for social media and local newspapers

Fiscal and Physical

* Administer annual operating budget for the YLC, including the Anspach budget

* In cooperation with the Business Office, supervise the collection of student fees, maintenance of equipment and supply inventory, and the acquisition and sales of textbooks

* Manage the equipment, classroom, and office space at the YLC; supervise the requisition process for supplies
