Spanish High School Equivalency Instructor

Location: Flat Rock

Responsible for developing and delivering a Spanish High School Equivalency program.

* Develop curriculum framework and lesson plans for: reading, writing, math, science, social studies

* Provide classroom instruction, in Spanish, to enrolled high school equivalency students

* Engage learners through differentiated instruction and contextualized, multisensory educational activities aligned with a planned scope/sequence and educational plan

* Effectively manage students in a classroom (in-person and/or virtual) and open study lab setting

* Administer formal and informal assessments to evaluate student content mastery

* Advise students and monitor progress; conduct and document student follow up communications

* Record and report accurate student attendance in accordance with department policy

* Participate in professional development, as needed

* Adhere to and support all department policies and procedures

* Ensure compliance and confidentiality with all policies and procedures of the College, NC Community College System, and applicable state and federal agencies

* Exhibit a positive and enthusiastic attitude; serve as an effective role model for students

* Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to change; strive for continuous process improvement

* Promote safety and adhere to safety standards

* Other duties as assigned

Education

Bachelor's degree in K-12, Adult Education, Special Education, High School Equivalency content area, or a related field. Master's degree preferred. Spanish fluency required.

Experience

All applicants must provide verifiable and relevant professional experience in a work-place setting or instructional/teaching environment. Minimum of three years successful teaching or equivalent experience preferred. Must be capable of teaching: math skills up to intermediate algebra and geometry; effective reading comprehension strategies; writing skills to develop an effective essay from a writing prompt.

* Proficient in integrating technology to support classroom instruction

* Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of an instructional team

* Capability and willingness to relate to and support students of diverse backgrounds/experiences

Physical Demands

The ability to perform all duties associated with the position including, but not limited to lifting, prolonged standing, sitting, bending, stooping, and operating or performing work with associated tools and machines. This position does work outdoors in inclement weather.
