Special Education Teacher, Teacher Assistant/ Paraprofessional, Elementary School
Location: Vass
STARS Charter Schoolis a K8 public charter school serving students in Moore County, North Carolina. We are seeking a dedicated Exceptional Children (EC) Teacher who values strong relationships, clear structure, and high expectations while supporting students with diverse learning needs.
The EC Teacher at STARS works collaboratively with general education teachers, service providers, and families to ensure students receive appropriate supports and access to high-quality instruction. We believe effective EC services balance compliance, instructional skill, and a deep commitment to understanding each child as an individual.
This position serves students across grades K8. Assignment and caseload will be determined based on licensure, student needs, and school structure.
Responsibilities include:
- Provide direct instruction and instructional support to students with disabilities in alignment with IEPs
- Collaborate with general education teachers to support inclusive practices and differentiated instruction
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs in compliance with state and federal requirements
- Use student data and progress monitoring to inform instructional decisions
- Communicate regularly and professionally with families regarding student progress and services
- Coordinate with related service providers and school staff
- Maintain accurate and timely EC documentation and records
- Uphold school policies, expectations, and professional standards
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Special Education or a related field
- Valid North Carolina EC Teaching License (or eligibility for licensure)
- Knowledge of EC compliance requirements and service delivery
- Strong organization, communication, and collaboration skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience serving students with disabilities across multiple grade levels
- Advanced degree and/or additional EC certifications
- Strong problem-solving skills and flexibility in service delivery
Compensation & Benefits:
- Salary aligned with the North Carolina State Salary Schedule
- State retirement and benefits eligibility
- Full-time, 10-month instructional position
- Bachelors degree in Education or related field
- Valid North Carolina teaching license (or eligibility for licensure)
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- Basic proficiency with instructional technology and data systems
- Demonstrated knowledge of content area and grade-level standards
- Ability to complete all EC Paperwork
