Daycare Teacher

Responsible for providing a safe and nurturing environment for young children, facilitating their social, emotional, and physical development through age-appropriate activities, and managing daily care needs like feeding, diapering, and rest times. They develop and implement lesson plans, monitor children's progress, and communicate regularly with parents about their child's well-being and development.

Job Responsibilities:

Child supervision and safety:
Always supervise children to ensure their safety and well-being. Maintain a clean, sanitary, and hazard-free environment.
Daily care:
Assist with basic needs such as feeding, changing diapers, and helping with naps or rest times. Prepare meals and snacks.
Educational activities:
Create and implement age-appropriate lesson plans that include a mix of learning, playtime, and physical activities. Use various methods like stories, games, arts and crafts, and music to enhance learning.
Developmental monitoring:
Observe and record children's progress, behavior, and development. Identify potential developmental or emotional issues and communicate them to parents or guardians.
Social-emotional guidance:
Promote positive social skills, encourage good manners, and help children learn to share and get along with one another.
Parent communication:
Maintain regular communication with parents regarding their child's day, progress, and any concerns.
Classroom management:
Organize and set up the classroom and play areas. Enforce classroom rules and manage behavioral issues as they arise.
Professional development:
Attend staff meetings and ongoing training to stay current on best practices in early childhood education.

Requirements

Education:

an associate or bachelor's degree in early childhood education (ECE) for lead teacher roles. (must have taken class EDU
119)

Certifications:

CPR and First Aid certification are essential and often required. State-specific certifications or a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential is advantageous.
Background Check: A clear criminal background check and health screening (including a TB test) are typically mandatory.

Skills:

Key skills include patience, creativity, strong communication and interpersonal skills, adaptability, and physical stamina.
