Ayden-Grifton High School is seeking a passionate, student-centered English Teacher to join our dedicated team of educators. The English Teacher will provide rigorous, standards-aligned instruction in English Language Arts while fostering a supportive and engaging classroom environment. The ideal candidate will be committed to strengthening literacy across disciplines and implementing instructional strategies that promote student ownership of learning.

• Deliver engaging, standards-based instruction aligned to the North Carolina Standard Course of Study
• Incorporate evidence-based instructional strategies, including writing-to-learn, collaborative learning, inquiry-based instruction, and explicit vocabulary development
• Use formative assessment data to inform instruction and support student growth
• Foster critical thinking, reading comprehension, and strong written and verbal communication skills
• Create a positive, structured classroom environment that promotes high expectations and mutual respect
• Participate actively in Professional Learning Teams (PLTs) to analyze data, plan instruction, and refine practices
• Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues
• Support school initiatives that promote student engagement and academic progress

• Bachelor's degree in English, Education, or related field
• Valid North Carolina teaching license (or eligibility for licensure) in English Language Arts
• Strong knowledge of literacy instruction and secondary ELA standards
• Commitment to continuous professional growth
• Ability to build positive relationships with students and families

• Experience teaching high school English
• Knowledge of AVID instructional strategies and WICOR methodologies
• Experience integrating technology to enhance student learning
• Demonstrated success in increasing student achievement
