Performance Evaluation: Performance to be evaulated annually by the EC Director
Purpose: This position was established for the purpose/s of effecting positive behavioral change in students; providing supportive interventions to families and/or students; and complying with Federal, State, county and District policies, regulations and/or procedures.
Nature of the Position: To provide behavioral services professional development and consultation to school personnel and parents to enhance the success of students in the educational environment. To work with students in the classroom and teams to develop interventions.
Performance Responsibilities and Duties:
- Follow all rules, policies, and procedures for the Pender County Schools. Have knowledge of and follow all state and federal regulations.
- Serve as a model for other district employees
- Provides consultation and intervention regarding behavior management, effective education and assessment of behavioral needs of students with and without disabilities
- Possesses the ability to conduct functional behavioral assessments and design, implement and monitor behavior intervention plans
- Understands State and Federal regulations relative to behavioral requirements and students with disabilities.
- Develops crisis intervention plan when needed
- Serves as the liaison between students receiving special education services and outside providers, private psychiatrists, psychologists and community agencies
- Follows students in alternative placements; facilitates transition during referral and reintegration phases
- Serves as member of the IEP team for students with behavioral concerns
- Prepare written reports as needed by district to outside psychiatric professionals/community agencies re: behavioral concerns of identified special education students
- Consults with school staff working with students with behavioral needs on behavior management techniques and information on specific student needs
- Provides consultation to parents re: child development, behavior management techniques
- Conducts professional development on training behavior management, progress monitoring, data collection techniques, social skills or other targeted district needs. Familiarize yourself with most recent research/practice in applied behavior analysis. Provides social skill lessons and materials to teachers, student groups or individual students as needed
- Design, implement, and monitor behavior programs for students.
- Oversee the implementation of behavior programs by others.
- Conducts experimental evaluations of interventions.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Superintendent and/or supervisor
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor's degree
- BCBA Certification or BCBA eligible, preferred
Experience:
- Experience as a special education teacher, behavior analyst, and/or behavior specialist Experience conducting professional development, collaborating with teachers and other school staff, as well as, providing direct services to students.
- Extensive prior experience with Applied Behavioral Analysis
- Experience working with children with Autism
- Knowledge and experience using the TEACCH Approach
- Knowledge and experience using Discrete Trial Training
Knowledge, Abilities, and Skill
- Compare, interpret, analyze and generate data and apply basic principles of statistics
- Write using prescribed formats and conforming to all rules of punctuation, grammar, diction, and style
- Communicate honestly, effectively, and efficiently in a variety of settings, using appropriate terminology
- Deal fairly with people beyond giving and receiving instructions
- Listen and communicate effectively in order to gather, convey or exchange information, including giving instructions, assignments or directions to subordinates or assistants Interpret and carry out written and oral directions
