Instructional Coach/Interventionist WCHS

Job Summary
The Instructional Coach/Interventionist serves as a non-evaluative instructional leader who supports high-quality teaching and learning aligned to school and district improvement goals. This position provides job-embedded professional learning, instructional support, intervention guidance, and data-informed coaching to strengthen instructional practices, build teacher capacity, and improve student outcomes.
The Instructional Coach/Interventionist works in partnership with teachers, administrators, and district staff to support instructional consistency, intervention implementation, and continuous school improvement efforts.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
* Support teachers in planning, implementing, and refining effective instruction aligned to curriculum standards and student learning needs.
* Facilitate individual, small-group, and school wide professional learning focused on research-based instructional practices and student engagement.
* Assist teachers in using assessment data to inform instructional decisions, intervention planning, and differentiated support for students.
* Model effective instructional strategies, classroom practices, and student engagement techniques when appropriate.
* Support the implementation of instructional programs, intervention supports, and instructional resources aligned to school and district priorities.
* Collaborate with teachers to develop and align instructional materials, classroom resources, and intervention supports.
* Support the effective integration of instructional technology and digital learning tools into classroom instruction.
* Promote culturally responsive instructional practices and positive classroom learning environments.
* Support Tier 2 intervention structures and assist with student progress monitoring as needed.
* Participate in school and district continuous improvement efforts, instructional initiatives, and action planning processes.
* Maintain timely and accurate coaching logs, intervention documentation, meeting notes, and records of instructional support activities in alignment with district expectations.
* Communicate effectively with teachers, administrators, district staff, families, and community stakeholders.
* Maintain professional knowledge of current instructional practices, curriculum resources, educational research, and intervention strategies.
* Attend professional learning opportunities, workshops, district meetings, and training sessions as required.
* Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Education.
* Valid North Carolina teaching license.
* Demonstrated knowledge of effective instructional practices, student-centered learning, and intervention support.
* Ability to build positive professional relationships and provide instructional support to teachers and staff.
* Strong communication, organization, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience in instructional coaching, intervention support, or teacher leadership roles.
* Minimum of five years of successful teaching experience at the secondary level.
* Experience supporting adolescent literacy, comprehension, vocabulary development, and content-area reading practices preferred.
* Background in English Language Arts, Reading, or Social Studies instruction preferred.
* Reading Specialist certification preferred.
* Master's degree in Education or a related field preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
* Knowledge of curriculum, instructional strategies, intervention practices, and assessment tools.
* Ability to analyze and use multiple sources of student data to support instructional planning and decision-making.
* Ability to facilitate professional learning and instructional support conversations.
* Ability to support differentiated instruction and diverse student learning needs.
* Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines effectively.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills.
* Ability to work effectively as part of a school and district instructional team.
* Proficiency with instructional technology and educational software tools.
Working Conditions
Physical Environment
Must be able to use a variety of office equipment and classroom tools such as computers, scanners, copiers, and instructional technology devices. Must be able to communicate effectively. At times may require lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or otherwise moving objects up to 10 pounds. Physical requirements are consistent with those for light office and school-based work.
Work Environment
Must be able to work in office and public-school environments and come into direct contact with administrators, employees, students, families, and the public.
