The North Carolina Aquariums’ Jennette’s Pier is in Nags Head, NC on 6 acres of prime oceanfront property overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. The 16,000 square-foot pier house and 1000-foot-long fishing pier with three wind turbines is a platinum LEED certified facility that demonstrates sustainable design to the nearly 200,000 guests it attracts annually. This unique educational facility offers a variety of programs, interactive and live animal exhibits, recreational fishing opportunities, public access to the beaches, a platform for ocean observing and marine research and a stunning reception hall available for public and private events to enhance the visitor experience.

This is a seasonal position, slated to be filled late-May through early-August 2026.

Reporting directly to the Outreach Coordinator, this fast-paced, high energy seasonal position is responsible for the planning and implementation of a comprehensive set of youth and adult programs and field experiences for a range of audiences. These experiences include day programs and week-long summer camps. Position is responsible for ensuring that programs are operated safely and in accordance with NC Aquariums guidelines and procedures.

This position will be required to work outdoors and be able to assist in kayaking, surf lessons, stand-up paddleboard lessons and fishing programs. Position works 40 hours per week and must be able to work nights, weekends and holidays.

This employee must be self‑directed and capable of working independently. Resourcefulness and problem‑solving skills are necessary for the employee to maintain public contact and respond to group requests. The employee must have good judgment, be knowledgeable about existing programs and procedures and be flexible. Interpersonal skills, time management, leadership, planning and organizing are additional skills preferred for this position.

• Must meet DNCR Fleet Safety Guidelines and have ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver's license.

High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
