Starting Date: Immediately

Position Type: Full-Time

Salary: $4,100 to $5,595 Per Month

Job Description

Reports To: Principal

Supervises: May coordinate and direct the activities of teacher assistants.

Purpose: To plan, organize and present instruction and instructional environments that help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their educational and social development.

Duties and Responsibilities

A. Management of Instructional Time: The teacher has materials, supplies, and equipment ready at the start of each lesson; gets the class started quickly; gets students on task promptly; maintains a high level of student time‑on‑task.

B. Management of Student Behavior: The teacher has a set of rules and procedures for routine administrative matters, student verbal participation, talk during activities, and movement; frequently monitors student behavior during all activities and transitions; stops inappropriate behavior promptly and consistently while maintaining student dignity.

C. Instructional Presentation: The teacher begins each lesson with a review of prior materials, introduces objectives, speaks fluently, presents material with clear concepts and understandable language, provides examples and demonstrations, assigns tasks with high success rates, asks appropriate questions, conducts the lesson at a brisk pace, manages transitions efficiently, ensures clarity of assignments, and summarizes main points at the end.

D. Instructional Monitoring of Student Performance: The teacher keeps clear work standards, circulates during class to check performance, uses oral and written work to assess progress, and poses questions clearly one at a time.

E. Instructional Feedback: The teacher provides feedback on student work to encourage growth, offers prompt feedback on out‑of‑class assignments, affirms correct responses, and provides sustaining feedback after incorrect responses by probing, repeating, giving clues, or allowing more time.

F. Facilitating Instruction: The teacher has an instructional plan aligned with school and system‑wide curricular goals; uses diagnostic data to develop and revise objectives; maintains accurate records; matches objectives, learning strategies, assessment, and student needs; uses available resources to support instruction.

G. Interacting Within the Educational Environment: The teacher treats all students fairly and equitably, and interacts effectively with students, co‑workers, parents, and community.

H. Performing Non‑Instructional Duties: The teacher carries out non‑instructional duties as assigned, adheres to laws and policies, follows a professional development plan, and demonstrates growth.

Job Functions:

Performs other related work as required.

Minimum Training and Experience

Degree in education or a related area qualifying for licensure as a teacher by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction.

Qualifications

Physical Requirements: Must use various classroom equipment; exert negligible force to lift and move objects; standing and walking time consistent with Light Work.

Job Requirements
  • Bachelor degree preferred.
  • Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
