Job DescriptionTeacher reporting to the Principal. Ten‑month term.
Pay Grade: NC State Salary Schedule, commensurate with experience, + supplement
FLSA Status: Exempt
Nature of WorkUnder general supervision, the teacher teaches one or more 3rd‑grade classes. The teacher plans, organizes, and presents instruction and creates a learning environment that fosters academic and social development. In addition, the teacher assists in other school programs and creates a flexible program and environment favorable to learning and personal growth in accordance with each student’s ability.
Education and ExperienceMinimum of a Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
Certification and Licensure RequirementsMust hold or be qualified to hold a North Carolina Professional Educator’s License.
Essential Functions/Typical Tasks- Teach North Carolina Standard Course of Study/Common Core and Essential Standards for 3rd grade.
- Plan, organize, and present instruction and instructional environments that support learning.
- Conduct lessons or instructional activities at an appropriate pace.
- Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior.
- Instruct students in proper care and use of materials and equipment.
- Evaluate each student’s performance and growth, preparing progress reports.
- Select and requisition instructional materials, books, equipment, etc., and maintain inventory records.
- Maintain professional competence through in‑service education activities and self‑selected professional learning activities.
- Participate cooperatively with administrator to develop evaluation methods in conformance with district guidelines.
- Speak fluently and precisely, presenting lessons using language understandable to students.
- Communicate with parents and school counselors on student progress.
- Cooperate in school‑wide supervision of students during out‑of‑classroom activities.
- Participate in faculty and/or district committees and sponsor student activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Solid understanding of best research practices.

- Skilled in assessment and the use of data for teaching.
- Ability to meet the needs of all learners.

Regularly required to talk or hear, stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach, lift up to 25 pounds. Requires light physical work, including occasional stooping, kneeling, or crawling.
