Location: Stokes County Schools, South Stokes High – Walnut Cove, North Carolina
Job DescriptionStarting 8/5/2026 for the 26-27 school year. Full time with benefits. 10 month, 7.5 hours a day.
Reports to:
Principal.
- Manage instructional time: prepare materials and start class quickly, keep students on task, maintain high student time‑on‑task.
- Manage student behavior: establish rules and procedures for routine matters, verbal participation, movement; monitor behavior during all activities; intervene promptly while maintaining dignity.
- Present instruction: review previous material, introduce objectives, speak fluently, present concepts and language appropriate to students, provide examples, assign tasks, ask level‑appropriate questions, pace lesson, smooth transitions, summarize main points.
- Monitor student performance: set clear standards and due dates, circulate during class, use oral, written, and other work products to check progress, ask clear, single questions.
- Provide instructional feedback: give prompt feedback on in‑class and out‑of‑class work, affirm correct responses, sustain incorrect responses with probing, repeating, clues, or extra time.
- Facilitate instruction: align plan with school and system goals, use diagnostic data to revise objectives, keep accurate records, match objectives and assessment, use available resources to support program.
- Interact within the educational environment: treat all students fairly, collaborate with students, coworkers, parents, and community.
- Perform non‑instructional duties: carry out assigned duties, follow policies and regulations, pursue professional development.
- Perform other related work as required.
- Degree in education or related field qualifying for licensure by North Carolina Department of Public Instruction.
- Physical ability to use classroom tools, equipment, and perform light work.
- Ability to compare, judge, and analyze data and information.
- Interpersonal communication skills: convey and receive information, give instructions.
- Language proficiency: read reports, prepare correspondence, create instructional materials.
- Logical reasoning and problem‑solving abilities.
- Verbal aptitude: record and deliver information, explain procedures, follow instructions.
- Numerical aptitude: apply math formulas, add, subtract, multiply, divide, use percentages, understand basic statistics.
- Form/spatial and motor coordination abilities.
- Manual dexterity and color discrimination skills.
- Interpersonal temperament: handle stressful situations, adapt to emergencies.
- Physical communication: talk and hear, use telephone.
- Constantly monitor student safety and well‑being during inclusive activities.
- Motivate students.
- Maintain a clean and orderly environment and perform clerical duties.
- Keep and manage files and records.
- Follow oral and written instructions.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships as needed.
