Location: Buies Creek

This faculty member will be part of the Department of Anatomy at Campbell University Jerry M. Wallace School of Osteopathic Medicine (CUSOM). The position involves teaching anatomy courses and other related topics in the preclinical, integrated medical school curriculum, Physician Assistant (PA) or Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) curriculum using traditional and innovative instructional methods. Experience teaching human medical embryology, histology, and gross anatomy with cadaver dissection is highly desired and preferred.

The faculty member will participate in curriculum development and implementation, serve as an academic advisor, serve on SOM and University committees, participate in the admissions process of SOM students, and engage in scholarly activity as well as campus and community service activities. The role reports directly to the Chair of the Department of Anatomy and to the Assistant Dean for Biomedical Affairs through the Chair of the Department of Anatomy.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Commitment to team teaching anatomy and other topics relevant to expertise to osteopathic medical students.
  • Commitment to team teaching anatomy and other topics relevant to expertise to PA or DPT students.
  • Work cooperatively with the Department Chair, Curriculum Committee, Block Leaders, Course Directors, and other SOM faculty to develop curricula and syllabi, schedule courses, assign teaching, develop exam questions and assessment tools, evaluate outcomes, and implement continuous quality improvement for the anatomy curriculum.
  • Serve as an academic advisor to assigned CUSOM students.
  • Serve on and participate in CUSOM and University committees as assigned.
  • Participate in the admissions process of CUSOM students.
  • Act as liaison between students and CUSOM administration.
  • Evaluate needs for successful anatomy curriculum delivery, including audiovisual aids, teaching materials, faculty development resources, and provide budget input to the Department Chair.
  • Develop and coordinate programs and resources to support faculty growth, development, and accomplishments in education, research, and service.
  • Maintain and promote scholarly efforts.
  • Ensure high standards for ethical and professional behavior in all aspects of student education and faculty administration.
  • Integrate osteopathic principles in pre‑ and post‑doctoral education programs.
  • Maintain professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
  • Demonstrate active and consistent commitment to the missions of both CUSOM and Campbell University.
  • Uphold and abide by all Campbell University policies, including Title IX and FERPA guidelines.

Education/Experience
  • An earned PhD or equivalent graduate degree in anatomy or a similar discipline from an accredited college or university.
  • Preference will be given to candidates who have demonstrated success or show strong potential in teaching medical embryology and histology, as well as human gross anatomy with cadaver dissection.
  • Post‑doctoral research experience in anatomical sciences and the ability to publish in high‑quality, peer‑reviewed journals is also preferred.
