Job Description10‑month position for academic year 26‑27. Full time with benefits.
Responsibilities- Assist teacher in executing instruction and evaluating its effectiveness.
- Monitor safety and well‑being of students, encourage self‑esteem and independence.
- Maintain classroom discipline, record out‑of‑class suspensions, assist with crisis prevention, restrain students as needed.
- Provide one‑on‑one academic assistance, reinforce instructions, conduct sessions on study skills.
- Maintain standardized records and documentation of student progress.
- Perform housekeeping duties in an orderly classroom, repair and maintain school equipment.
- Perform clerical duties: file incident reports, grade papers and tests, check attendance, make copies, develop classroom displays, operate audiovisual equipment, order supplies, maintain class files.
- Feed and assist toileting for students as needed; assist with any other tasks students cannot perform.
- Participate in staff development workshops and perform other related work as required.
Minimum Training and Experience
- High school diploma or GED and a minimum of 48 hours of college‑level coursework, GPA ≥2.0.
- Or completion of Work Keys tests with score 4 in Applied Math, Graphic Literacy, Workplace Documents and 96 contact hours in reading, writing, math strategies, special‑needs and technology.
Minimum Qualifications/Standards
- Physical ability to use classroom equipment and perform light work.
- Ability to compare and judge data, people, or things.
- Strong interpersonal communication, language ability, verbal and numerical aptitude.
- Proficiency in basic office equipment, file maintenance, and operational skills.
- Ability to maintain safety, order, discipline, and supportive relationships.
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of lead teacher activities, classroom routines, student handbook rules, emergency procedures, organization and administration principles, and relevant curriculum.
- Ability to monitor safety, motivate students, maintain a clean environment, perform clerical duties, operate office machines, maintain records, understand instructions, and establish effective relationships.
