School-Based Mental Health Therapist - 3 vacancies
Starting date: Immediately
Length of position: Temporary, Grant Funded

Position type: Full-Time (10 month)
- Must be licensed provider (LPC, LCSW, LSP, LCMHC, or LMFT) and in good standing
- Valid North Carolina license to serve as a therapist in elementary or secondary school
- Master's degree related to the license
- Experience providing students with interventions, preferably within MTSS framework
- Relate well to children and adults
- Communicate effectively and work as a team member
- Provide school-based mental health services (group and individual counseling) to students within McDowell County School District aligned with MTSS
- Provide all services in accordance with FERPA, PPRA, IDEA, Section 504, ADA and other applicable laws and ethical obligations
- Collaborate with teachers to administer universal screener to identify students needing further assessment
- Expand and/or refine services based on identified needs and progress over time
- Enter notes and information into electronic health record system to track SBMH services
- Perform activities necessary to maintain licensure such as continuing education and/or clinical supervision hours
- Participate in SBMH Professional Learning Communities and engage in professional development relevant to identified student and provider needs
- Attend local, regional, and/or national conferences and meetings, such as the annual SMBH grantee meeting, as appropriate
- Locate and use community resources and collaborate with community agencies to meet student and family needs
- Promote positive relationships with and serve as liaison to families, schools, and community
- Promote regular school attendance and safe, caring, drug‑free schools
- Empower and advocate for students and families
- Provide appropriate services for homeless students
- Provide crisis intervention services
- Complete action plans for families and students
- Provide short/long‑term case management services to individual students
- Participate in transition planning for students
- Report suspected child abuse/neglect
- Promote parental involvement in school conferences and responsibility for regular attendance
- Facilitate parent groups
- Assist families with interpretation of school policies and procedures
- Collaborate with support personnel within the school
- Assess school needs and implement appropriate programs, groups, and initiatives to target identified at‑risk populations
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor
