Position SummaryThe Department of Communication at Western Carolina University invites applications for a visiting instructor of communication. This is a nine‑month, temporary, fixed‑term position with an expected start date of August 2026, located primarily on the main Cullowhee, NC campus.
Responsibilities- Teach four in‑person sections of COMM 201:
Foundations of Communication each semester during the academic year. - Prepare and deliver instructional materials covering interpersonal communication, public speaking, and small group communication.
- Assess student learning and provide timely, constructive feedback.
- Participate in department meetings and professional development activities as required.
A Master’s degree in Communication or a closely related field with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in communication, degree conferral by 8/1/2026. Required teaching skills are limited to interpersonal/organizational communication. Degrees must be from an accredited institution.
Preferred QualificationsApplicants who have previous university‑level teaching experience and are proficient in interpersonal, organizational, or other communication‑related areas are desired.
