Lecturer/Assistant AD for Athletic Training & Sports Medicine
Position within the Department of Kinesiology and UNC Pembroke Athletics. The role combines athletic training leadership, teaching undergraduate courses, and administrative responsibilities.
Responsibilities Athletic Training (45%)- Provide comprehensive medical care for assigned teams, including all activities, travel, nights, and weekends.
- Maintain electronic medical records in accordance with university, conference, NCAA, and federal standards.
- Supervise, mentor, and evaluate student workers and assistant athletic trainers.
- Coordinate referrals to team physicians and other healthcare providers as needed.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety protocols, including concussion management and Employee Assistance Programs.
- Teach undergraduate courses assigned by the Department Chair.
- Maintain up‑to‑date course materials and gradebook through Canvas.
- Provide timely feedback and support to students via email and office hours.
- Participate in curriculum development and departmental meetings.
- Serve on the Senior Athletics Staff and engage in department planning and decision‑making.
- Assist the Director of Athletics with development, management, and evaluation of training protocols.
- Oversee budget planning and purchasing for the Athletic Training department.
- Foster collaboration between Athletic Training, coaching staffs, Student Health Services, CAPS, and other university departments.
- Represent the university at conference meetings.
- Carry out additional administrative duties as assigned.
- Master's degree in athletic training, a subdiscipline of kinesiology, or closely related field.
- 1–3 years of athletic training experience working with collegiate athletes (preferred).
- Taught undergraduate coursework (preferred).
- Strong knowledge of NCAA regulations and athlete health standards.
- Must hold Board of Certification (BOC) certification and current CPR/AED certification.
- Eligible to obtain a North Carolina athletic training license by August 2026, or hold a current license through NCBATE.
Position requires 9 months per year with evening, weekend, and travel commitments.
Equipment and ResourcesTo be provided as part of the role; duties include supply ordering and equipment maintenance.
