Adjunct Cosmetology Instructor

The primary purpose and function of this position is to deliver instruction and support student success.

Develop course syllabi, outlines, and lesson plans for curriculum courses assigned. Develop lectures, classroom activities, laboratory, hands‑on exercises, and/or actual work site exercises for students to participate and learn. Monitor and record student progress in courses. Administer tests or other evaluation methods to students; grade and provide feedback on exercises, homework assignments, and tests. Keep records of student attendance.

• Teach, advise students, and prepare lesson plans and lectures.
• Write course overviews and outlines, prepare assessments and class projects.
• Maintain current knowledge of cosmetology industry, salon management, cosmetician science, nail technology, esthetics, instructor training and fashion concepts.
• Operate salon equipment and maintain high academic standards.
• Participate in ongoing professional development and campus activities as required.
• Work no more than 25 hours per week.

• Associate in Applied Science degree (Cosmetology) with current and active Cosmetology and Cosmetology Instructor Licenses.
• Degrees and coursework from a regionally accredited college or university.
• Current NC State Board of Cosmetic Arts certifications.
• One year of community college teaching experience preferred.
