Adjunct Instructor – WCC Life and Work Skills Academy
Job DescriptionThe Adjunct Instructor will teach assigned courses within the Life & Work Skills Academy and provide direct support to students with documented disabilities as they develop essential life, work, academic, and social skills.

ResponsibilitiesPlan and deliver engaging, accessible lessons; create instructional materials aligned with program outcomes; adapt instruction to meet diverse learning needs; support students in building independence, self‑advocacy, communication, and problem‑solving skills; maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment; monitor student progress, maintain accurate records, document attendance and performance; collaborate with the Program Director, Access to Achievement Coordinator, and community partners to support internships, job‑shadowing experiences, and workforce development activities;
participate in required meetings, trainings, and professional development; assist students with portfolio and capstone work; facilitate community‑based learning experiences as needed.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities in educational, vocational, or community settings.
- Strong communication, organization, and classroom‑management skills.
- Commitment to inclusive teaching practices and student success.
- Teaching experience.
- Background in career counseling, job coaching, or transition services.
- Familiarity with assistive technology and accessibility tools.
- Experience coordinating internships or community‑based learning.
Work is primarily performed under general supervision in an office or classroom setting with appropriate climate controls. Travel, early morning, evening, and weekend work may be required. Essential functions include lifting up to 20 pounds, sitting, walking, standing, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing, stooping, turning, twisting, balancing, reaching, or handling. Mental application includes utilizing memory for details, verbal instructions, emotional stability, critical thinking, adaptability, and creative problem‑solving skills.
SalaryGrade
Salary commensurate with education and experience in accordance with the college salary plan.
