Job Description

The Social Work Department at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke seeks qualified adjunct instructors for the academic year 2026‑2027. Adjuncts will teach in‑person or online synchronous courses in the MSW program, practice courses, or elective and special topic courses.

Responsibilities
  • Plan course instruction according to approved syllabus.
  • Hold classes as scheduled and complete all class‑related activities in a timely manner.
  • Maintain effective and timely communication with students and faculty.
  • Adhere to university policies and procedures.
Qualifications
  • Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from an accredited institution. For teaching in the MSW program, must hold a Ph.D. in Social Work or a closely related field.
  • For teaching practice courses, at least two years of post‑MSW professional social work experience.
  • For teaching online classes, online teaching experience or willingness to complete online teaching training.
  • Candidates with closely related master’s or doctoral degrees (e.g., counseling, mental health, family therapy, art therapy, substance abuse, psychology, psychiatry) and substantial professional/practice experience may be considered for elective and special topic courses.
