Student Tutor
The Student Tutor provides one-on-one or small group academic support to students in various subjects, helping them understand course material, develop study skills, and improve their performance by clarifying concepts, solving problems, and addressing specific learning challenges while fostering a positive and encouraging learning environment.
Essential Responsibilities- Tutoring students in a qualified subject.
- Maintaining detailed records of each meeting.
- Other duties may be assigned as deemed appropriate and/or necessary by the Counselor/Title IX Coordinator, Dean of Student Services, or Administration.
- Strong academic background in the subject area
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to different learning styles
- Patience and enthusiasm for helping students succeed
- Experience with tutoring or teaching preferred
- Peer Tutors:
Current MCC student in good academic standing. - Non-Student/Professional Tutor:
Associate's degree required. - Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Must have completed the course in which you would like to tutor with a B or better.
- Must have an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher.
