Job DescriptionTeaching and Learning Facilitator
Reports to: Directors of Elementary and Secondary Instruction and Building Principal
Purpose: To provide instructional support and coaching to teachers and/or instructional assistants to ensure that each student is able to reach his or her academic potential;
Teaching and Learning Facilitators will support and model best practices through coaching cycles, on-demand coaching, and group professional development in order to affect measurable improvements in teaching and learning.
- Ensure continuous professional development of instructional staff through coaching cycles, on-demand coaching, and school-wide professional development
- Support designated teachers with consistent weekly observation, feedback, goal setting, and training (not related to evaluations)
- Provide lesson-planning and unit-planning support to designated teachers on an as-needed basis, with an emphasis on Beginning Teachers
- Lead teachers in reflective conversations, self-analysis, and self-observation to:
- identify areas for instructional and professional growth
- set meaningful and realistic short‑ and long‑term instructional goals
- plan next steps toward the achievement of those goals
- Model instructional strategies with teachers and instructional staff in classrooms to support instructional goals
- Promote, model, and teach the use of consistent instructional frameworks and research‑based strategies
- Identify trends through data analysis and classroom observations to determine professional development needs across the school
- Collaborate with school and district staff to develop, support, and facilitate professional learning sessions
- Support teachers and instructional staff in establishing and maintaining classroom management systems in which students are actively engaged and supported
- Maintain detailed records of observations, goals, and supports provided to instructional staff
- Demonstrate a growth mindset and participate in regular professional learning to improve knowledge and skills
- Masterful knowledge of instructional best practices and content standards
- Demonstrated leadership ability resulting in the professional growth of colleagues
- Communicate clearly and effectively with instructional staff, school administrators, and district staff
- Motivate and inspire students and adults
- Model effective classroom management and instruction at various grade levels
- Analyze data to determine necessary core and supplemental instruction
- Maintain a caseload of teacher collaborating teachers, providing consistent observation and training
- Deal proactively with work‑related problems
- Comprehend complex technical topics and specialized information relevant to instructional coaching, instructional best practices, MTSS, district-wide initiatives, and other topics as appropriate
- Build and sustain relationships with educators from various disciplines
- Organize, prioritize, and manage work assignments in an efficient manner
- Facilitate educators, both individuals and groups, through the change process to consensus
- Lead crucial conversations to support positive outcomes for students and staff
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education;
Master’s Degree preferred - Five years of experience at the grade-span level as a teacher or administrator
- Working knowledge of MTSS, instructional coaching, data collection and analysis, and students with disabilities
- Preferred:
Prior experience coaching teachers to implement changes and facilitating professional learning
