Location: Beaufort

Job Title

To enable each child to pursue his education as smoothly and completely as possible in the absence of his regular teacher.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of High School Diploma
  • A teaching license (current or expired) or Effective Teacher Training class.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Principal

Supervises:

N/A

Performance Responsibilities:

  • Follows all rules, policies and procedures of Carteret County Public Schools, along with state and federal regulations pertaining to school issues.
  • Reports to the principal or school secretary upon arrival at the school.
  • Follows lesson plans.
  • Maintains a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
  • Provides appropriate instructional activities for students.
  • Maintains rules of classroom behavior and procedure; maintains order and safety in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
  • Carries out non-instructional duties as required or assigned
  • Leaves documentation regarding work completed and student behavior for the regular classroom teacher.
  • Performs related duties and responsibilities as required by the principal.
  • Terms Of Employment:

    Per diem, at rates currently established by the Board.

    Knowledge, Skills And Abilities:

    • Ability to use classroom instructional time appropriately and wisely.
    • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; ability to communicate well with school personnel, students and parents.
    • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines and accomplish specific tasks as requested.
    • Ability to monitor constantly the safety and well-being of students.
    • Comply with confidentiality requirements in local, state and federal policies and statutes.
    • Physical ability (able to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally) and dexterity to perform the duties and responsibilities of the job, such as, walk, lift, stoop, stand, grasp, kneel, crouch and key requiring repetitive motions.
