Position Summary
The Campus Worship Director is responsible for the planning, leading, and implementation of Campus Worship, a weekly worship service primarily designed for undergraduate and graduate students, but open to all students, faculty, and staff. This director is part of the ministerial team responsible for the spiritual health, Christ‑centered culture, and personal and communal formation programming that nurtures the spiritual and religious life of Campbell University.
This position is fully funded by Lilly Endowment Inc. through the Office of Spiritual Life’s partnership with Campbell University Divinity School’s Calling Grant.
- Plan and lead weekly Campus Worship for undergraduate and graduate students. This includes but is not limited to administrative tasks such as reservations, sound requests, creating worship slides, printing bulletins, etc.
- Recruit, train, supervise, mentor, and work with the student/intern Campus Worship Planning Team to promote, plan, and lead Campus Worship weekly.
- Support and work with the Minister for Worship and Spiritual Formation for worship services and opportunities that follow the church and academic year.
- Create and sustain relationships with undergraduate students, campus partners, and key academic departments to help build and contribute to the pipeline from undergraduate worship leaders to Divinity School students in the worship and music concentration.
- Participate in key events such as Admissions days, New Student Orientation, Tartan, and/or initiatives supported by Student Life and Christian Mission.
- Uphold and abide by Campbell University policies and procedures, including but not limited to Title IX, Information Security, HIPAA, FERPA, and other state and federal mandates.
- Other job‑related duties, responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice.
- Completion of an undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university.
- Currently pursuing or have completed a Master of Divinity or equivalent degree from an accredited seminary or university.
- At least 3 years of experience in worship leading and planning.
- Experience working with a team or group to plan worship encouraged.
- Ability to communicate effectively to all groups through both oral and written channels.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and time‑management skills.
- Comprehensive skills in the use of Canva.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and standard methods of digital communication, including web, text, and chat platforms.
- Proficiency in utilizing social media platforms for the purposes of ministry.
- Demonstrate tact, a positive attitude, courtesy, and discretion in dealing with trustees, faculty, staff, students, high‑level university officials, and the public.
- Work independently as well as function effectively in a team and within a diverse group of people.
- Employ fair judgment in complex, new, and/or stressful situations.
- Manage multiple, concurrent projects, and meet set deadlines.
- Be adaptable, flexible, and have a willingness to work in a changing environment.
- Work occasional evening and weekend hours based on the rhythm of the academic year.
- Travel with students and/or staff, including overnight stays when needed.
- This position demands accuracy, honesty, integrity, and the ability to work within the Christian mission of Campbell University.
