Vice President Of Workforce Development And Continuing Education

The Vice President of Workforce Development and Continuing Education is responsible for leading the college's adult education, vocational training, and community engagement programs. This position drives economic growth by building partnerships with employers, securing funding, and helping individuals—including underserved populations—achieve sustainable employment and professional credentials.

This position also serves on the President's Council and reports to the President.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Work with the executive team to establish vision, long-range goals, and operating budgets for the workforce division.
  • Research and identify emerging industry trends and design responsive, market-driven continuing education and credentialing programs within the college service region.
  • Build relationships with local businesses, government agencies, and non-profits to secure internships, apprenticeships, and customized training contracts.
  • Oversee division budgets, ensure financial sustainability, and maximize resources through grants and entrepreneurial growth.
  • Partner with Academic Affairs to create and maintain seamless transition opportunities from short-term non-credit classes/offerings into credit classes/offerings and pathways.
  • Manage all marketing and recruiting efforts within the Workforce Development/Continuing Education Department, promoting programs and driving enrollment growth.
  • Manage non-credit enrollment, marketing, and data management while evaluating program profitability and effectiveness.
  • Ensure all programs meet state, federal, and institutional accreditation standards.
  • Shape the vision and goals for workforce initiatives, corporate training, and continuing education programs.
  • Cultivate strategic alliances with regional employers, industry leaders, and community agencies to identify skills gaps and build localized training pipelines.
  • Identify, secure, and administer grants, contracts, and alternative funding sources to scale workforce programs.
  • Oversee the development and assessment of continuing education programs, ensuring instructional quality and compliance with accreditation standards.
  • Provide leadership and oversight for departments serving Adult Basic Education (ABE), English as a Second Language (ESL), the Latino Center, and GEARS/IDD populations.
  • Responsible for the management of the Small Business Center and short-term non-credit programs at the West Park campus.
  • Work with the Office of Human Resources to develop personnel policies and procedures to include employee evaluation, professional development, in-service training, and work assignments for the employees of the Workforce Development/Continuing Education Department.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain Workforce Development and Continuing Education program offerings to ensure quality, relevance, and alignment with community and industry needs.
  • Lead and participate in joint planning with other educational and public agencies, advisory committees, and businesses and industries at the local, regional, and state levels.
  • Re-establish and maintain robust advisory committees to support all Workforce Development/Continuing Education program offerings to better align with ever-changing industry needs.
  • Monitor changes in local, state, and federal legislative/regulatory procedures that impact Workforce Development/Continuing Education as it relates to Workforce Financial Aid (PELL).
  • Provide oversight and coordination of distance learning activities pertaining to the workforce development and continuing education areas in collaboration with the Director of Distance Learning.
  • Attend state and regional meetings/conferences for program updates and professional development.
  • Acquire computer/technology competencies as appropriate to the position.
  • Maintain security of personal computer access.
  • Perform other professional or job-related duties as assigned
  • Serve on college committees as directed by supervisor.
