Collision Repair And Refinishing Instructor
The Collision Repair and Refinishing Instructor is responsible for providing quality instruction in all phases of collision repair, refinishing, structural and non-structural damage analysis, and related automotive technologies. EssentialJob Duties
The instructor delivers classroom, laboratory, and hands-on training aligned with NC Community College System curriculum standards, ASE/NATEF (or ASE Education Foundation) guidelines, and industry best practices. The instructor supports student success through effective teaching strategies, curriculum development, industry engagement, and maintenance of a safe and current lab environment that reflects real-world collision repair practices.
Additional Responsibilities Instruction & Student Learning
- Deliver classroom and lab instruction in collision repair, refinishing, estimating, and damage analysis
- Prepare and implement lesson plans, course syllabi, and instructional materials aligned with NCCCS curriculum standards
- Evaluate student performance using a variety of assessment methods
- Provide academic advising, mentoring, and career guidance to students
- Maintain accurate student attendance, grades, and records in accordance with college policies
Program Development & Improvement
- Assist in curriculum development and revision to meet industry standards and accreditation requirements
- Ensure alignment with ASE Education Foundation standards for program certification
- Stay current with advancements in collision repair technology, materials, and equipment
- Participate in program review, assessment, and continuous improvement processes
Laboratory & Equipment Management
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized shop/lab environment
- Ensure proper use, maintenance, and inventory of tools and equipment
- Enforce OSHA and environmental safety standards (including hazardous materials handling and disposal)
- Assist in identifying equipment needs and recommending upgrades
Industry & Community Engagement
- Develop relationships with local employers and advisory committee members
- Participate in advisory committee meetings and incorporate feedback into program improvements
- Represent the college at recruitment events, career fairs, and community outreach
Institutional Responsibilities
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and college committees
- Support college initiatives related to retention, completion, and workforce development
- Maintain required certifications and credentials
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate degree in Collision Repair, Automotive Systems Technology, or closely related field
- Minimum of 3–5 years of recent, relevant industry experience in collision repair and refinishing
- Demonstrated knowledge of modern collision repair techniques, materials, and equipment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Teaching or training experience in a community college or technical education setting
- ASE Master Collision Repair Technician certification
- I-CAR certifications (Platinum or Pro Level preferred)
