Position: PT QuickBooks Instructor, EWD-Surf City
Location: Holly Ridge

Quick Books Training Instructor

To teach face to face Quick Books courses at the Surf City Center. These courses may be held at a variety of times depending on student interest. Receive general supervision from the Director of the Surf City Center.

Duties & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

Essential Functions:

  • Conduct engaging and informative Quick Books training sessions for individuals and small groups remotely.
  • Deliver curriculum that covers the fundamentals of Quick Books, including setup, navigation, data entry, reporting, and more.
  • Provide hands-on guidance and support to participants, answering questions and troubleshooting issues as needed.
  • Tailor instruction to meet the diverse needs and skill levels of participants, ensuring an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
  • Stay current with updates and changes to Quick Books software to ensure training materials are up-to-date.
  • Maintain class records in compliance with local and state procedures and requirements.
  • Meet all deadlines internally and externally.

Other Important Functions:

  • Knowledge of EWD processes and procedures and general College policies and procedures.
    • Proficiency in Quick Books with a solid understanding of its features and functionalities.
    • Proven experience as a trainer or instructor, preferably in a Quick Books or accounting-related capacity.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex concepts in a clear and engaging manner.
    • Excellent organizational and time management abilities, with a focus on delivering high-quality instruction in a timely manner.
    • Relevant certifications (e.g., Quick Books Certification) are a plus but not required.

    Knowledge of:

  • Principles and procedures of record keeping and basic accounting.
  • Principles and practices of financial recordkeeping and reporting
  • English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation.
  • Modern office procedures, methods and computer equipment.
  • Advanced word processing methods, techniques and programs.
  • Advanced spreadsheet and database knowledge.
  • Principles of mathematics.
  • Ability to:
  • Interpret and apply the policies and procedures of the function to which assigned.
  • Maintain compliance records for college.
  • Maintain a variety of financial records and files.
  • Perform accounting activities including the maintenance of appropriate files and compiling information for reports.
  • Operate a personal computer, calculator and other office equipment.
  • Type and word process at a speed necessary for successful job performance.
  • Respond to inquiries and requests for information.
  • Maintain effective audio-visual discrimination and perception needed for:
  • Making observations
  • Reading and writing
  • Communicating with others
  • Operating assigned equipment
  • Handling varied tasks simultaneously
    • Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities, which may include the following:
    • Standing or sitting for extended periods of time
    • Operating assigned equipment
    • Handling varied tasks simultaneously
    • Bending, stooping, climbing, or lifting up to 50 pounds
    • Maintain mental capacity, which allow the capability of:
    • Making sound decisions
    • Responding to questions
    • Demonstrating intellectual capabilities
    Qualifications

    Experience and training guidelines:
    Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

    Minimum Experience:

    • Associates degree in business, accounting or bookkeeping or related field
    • Teaching experience
    • Windows and Microsoft Office experience
    • Google Suite experience

    Preferred Education/Training, Experience,

    Skills:

    • Quick Books certification
    • Experience using online learning platforms like Canvas

Candidates are required to submit OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS for all degrees obtained prior to their first day of work or hire date. If the highest level of education is a High School diploma or equivalent, proof of completion is required.

    Applicants who have obtained their education outside of the US and its territories must have their academic degree(s) validated, at their own expense, by an outside credential evaluation service as equivalent to the Baccalaureate or Master's degree conferred by a regionally accredited college or university in the United States. This position will work 6-10 hours per week when the course is offered.
