Job DescriptionREPORTS TO: Principal
SUPERVISES: May coordinate and direct the activities of teacher assistants.
PURPOSE: To plan, organize and present instruction and instructional environments that help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their educational and social development.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Management of Instructional Time: Have materials, supplies, and equipment ready at lesson start; create lessons based on NCSCOS; start class quickly; keep students on task; maintain high time-on-task.
- Management of Student Behavior: Establish rules and procedures for administration, verbal participation, movement; monitor behavior during all activities; stop inappropriate behavior promptly while maintaining dignity.
- Instructional Presentation: Begin lessons with review; introduce lesson and objectives; speak fluently; present concepts clearly; provide examples; assign tasks; ask appropriate questions; pace instruction; manage transitions; summarize main points.
- Instructional Monitoring of Student Performance: Maintain standards and due dates; circulate during class; use oral, written, and other products to check progress; pose questions clearly.
- Instructional Feedback: Provide feedback on in-class work; give prompt feedback on out-of-class work; affirm correct responses; offer sustaining feedback for incorrect responses.
- Facilitating Instruction: Have instructional plan aligned with curricular goals; use data-informed practices; maintain records; align objectives, strategies, assessments; use resources.
- Interacting Within the Educational Environment: Treat all students fairly; interact effectively with students, co-workers, parents, community.
- Performing Non-Instructional Duties: Carry out non-instructional duties as assigned; adhere to laws and policies; develop professional growth plan; demonstrate growth.
- Other related work as required.
Degree in education or related area that qualifies for licensure as a teacher by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction.
Physical RequirementsMust be able to use classroom tools and lift etc. Light work.
