We are seeking a passionate, student‑centered school teacher to join our academic team. The ideal candidate will create an engaging learning environment that supports students’ intellectual, social, and emotional development in grades K-5. This role requires strong classroom management skills, subject‑matter expertise, and a commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive school culture.
Responsibilities- Develop lesson plans and instructional materials that provide effective teaching strategies.
- Maintain effective classroom management, recognize and address learning and behavior issues.
- Understand developmental appropriateness of materials and differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners.
- Evaluate student accomplishments on a regular basis using multiple assessment methods; provide progress and interim reports.
- Communicate with parents in a timely manner; maintain positive and constructive communication with students, staff, parents and community.
- Protect students, materials and facilities, taking necessary and reasonable precautions.
- Uphold and enforce board policy, district goals, administrative procedures and school rules and regulations.
- Adhere to health and safety policies.
- Maintain appropriate work habits, including regular and punctual attendance and appropriate use of conference and planning time.
- Keep current in subject‑matter knowledge and learning theory; attend workshops, PLCs, and staff development sessions as required.
- Respect confidentiality of records and information regarding students, parents and teachers in accordance with professional ethics and state/federal laws.
- Share responsibility during the school day for student supervision in areas of the school.
- Perform non‑instructional duties as assigned.
- Must hold or be eligible for a North Carolina teaching license.
- Holder must be able to perform each essential function with proficiency.
- Education:
Bachelor’s Degree from an approved education program in the subject area (Vocational/Career & Technical areas have other requirements). - Strong background and understanding of the North Carolina Standard Course of Study and essential standards.
- Occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force.
- Regularly requires speaking or hearing, using hands for repetitive motions, sitting, occasionally standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, pushing or pulling, lifting.
- Standard vision requirements; vocal communication required; hearing required at normal spoken word levels.
- Requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operating machines, operating motor vehicles or equipment, observing surroundings.
- Occasional exposure to outdoor weather conditions; generally in a moderately noisy location.
