The agent in this position will have educational responsibilities in all phases of livestock, equine, and forages, and will also provide pesticide education. The successful candidate must be able to conduct educational programs that focus on the profitability and sustainability of North Carolina livestock, equine, forages, and pesticide education, utilizing best practices based on research to include the adoption of proven technology, business, and financial practices.
Dutiesand Responsibilities
- Provide leadership for the development, implementation, and evaluation of an effective educational program to meet the needs of Ashe County in the areas of livestock, equine, forages, and pesticide education.
- Develop and market educational programs with measurable impacts.
- Collaborate with other agencies, groups, and organizations to more effectively reach intended audiences throughout the county.
- One of the following educational requirements:
- A Bachelor’s degree with a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 overall or a 3.0 in an agricultural or related field (based on a 4.0 scale). The minimum GPA requirement will be waived for NCCE Program Associates with a Bachelor’s degree.
- A Bachelor’s degree and the completion of at least one half of coursework in a Master’s degree curriculum with a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher, with at least one of the degrees in an agricultural or related field.
- Completion of a Master’s degree with at least one of the degrees in an agricultural or related field.
- A bachelor’s degree in animal science, crop science, agronomy, or a related agricultural field is required.
- Experience working with a wide variety of livestock.
- Travel within the county and occasional travel outside the county/district is required.
- Valid NC driver’s license.
- A Master’s degree is preferred.
- Extension or other professional experience, including a high level of computer competency, is desired.
8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.; evenings and weekends as required.
