Job DescriptionThe Physical Education & Health Teacher will:
- Arrive at school each day at an appropriate time designated by the principal, ready and prepared to complete all assigned duties.
- Complete assigned and/or accepted extracurricular and non-instructional duties in a timely and professional manner, including bus duty, cafeteria supervision, playground duty, supervision of extra‑curricular activities (except for initially licensed teachers unless they request such assignment in writing or the Board permits), service on committees, and all other duties assigned by the Superintendent, principal, or other supervisor(s).
- When absent, provide detailed lesson plans for all classes/assigned duties during the period of absence, leaving them one day prior if anticipated; if the absence is not anticipated, maintain emergency lesson plans in a location designated by the principal.
- Deliver instruction that ensures attainment of educational goals and objectives, preparing daily well‑prepared lesson plans for a superior delivery of the curriculum program.
- Participate in all required staff meetings and student academic meetings, including required meetings for students with special needs, in a professional manner.
- Complete and transmit all required reports and documentation in a timely and professional manner.
- Respond to parent inquiries, complaints, and/or concerns in a timely and professional manner.
- Address complaints regarding the work environment to the appropriate supervisor(s) and avoid confrontations with co‑workers, steering clear of actions or conversations that could disrupt the environment.
- Manage students’ behavior to minimize disruption and refer students, as necessary, to the administration for disciplinary action.
- Seek clarification whenever unsure about requirements of this policy.
The failure or unwillingness to comply with professional standards of conduct and performance may result in contract non‑renewal or disciplinary action up to and including dismissal from employment. Considerations will be made regarding the impact on student education and the overall educational environment.
Qualifications- North Carolina Educator’s Licensure in the assigned area.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
