Reports To: Principal
Supervises: May coordinate and direct the activities of teacher assistants.
Purpose: To plan, organize and present instruction and instructional environments that help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their educational and social development.
Duties and Responsibilities- Management of Instructional Time: The teacher has materials ready at the start of each lesson, starts the class quickly, gets students on task, and maintains a high level of student time‑on‑task.
- Management of Student Behavior: Established rules and procedures for behavior, verbal participation, and movement; monitors behavior during activities and transitions; stops inappropriate behavior promptly while maintaining student dignity.
- Instructional Presentation: Begins lessons with review, introduces objectives, speaks fluently, presents material with understandable language, provides examples and demonstrations; assigns tasks, asks questions, conducts lessons at brisk pace, manages transitions, summarizes main points.
- Instructional Monitoring of Student Performance: Maintains clear standards, circulates during class to check performance, uses oral, written, and other work products to assess progress, poses questions clearly.
- Instructional Feedback: Provides feedback on correctness, encourages growth, gives prompt feedback, affirms correct responses, probes or repeats for incorrect or no response.
- Facilitating Instruction: Has instructional plan aligning with school and system goals; uses diagnostic information to develop/revise objectives; maintains accurate records; uses resources to support instruction.
- Interacting Within the Educational Environment: Treats all students fairly, interacts with students, co‑workers, parents, and community.
- Performing Non‑Instructional Duties: Carries out non‑instructional duties as assigned, adheres to laws, follows professional development plan.
- Additional Functions: Performs other related work as required.
Degree in education or related area qualifying for licensure as a teacher by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. Must not be listed as unqualified or subject to revocation hearing.
Minimum Qualifications or StandardsPhysical Requirements: Ability to use classroom equipment, lift, carry, push, pull; consistent with Light Work.
Other Requirements: Includes data conception, interpersonal communication, language ability, intelligence, verbal aptitude, numerical aptitude, form/spatial aptitude, motor coordination, manual dexterity, color discrimination, interpersonal temperament, and physical communication.

Salary$3,700 to $6,048 Per Month
Job Requirements- Bachelor degree preferred.
