The Division of Nursing seeks Adjunct Faculty to teach didactic and/or clinical courses in the Undergraduate Adult Health Area, including Medical-Surgical/Adult Health Nursing, Pharmacology, Pathophysiology, Health Assessment, Clinical Nursing Foundations, Nursing Research, and Leadership & Management of Care.

Major duties and responsibilities include providing instruction that reflects the philosophy, objectives, and curriculum of the nursing program and profession, facilitating student achievement of course objectives, evaluating student achievement, utilizing feedback for instructional improvement, and incorporating evidence-based research.

• Plan and provide didactic and/or clinical instruction and experiences that reflect an understanding of the philosophy, objectives, and curriculum of the nursing program and profession.
• Facilitate student achievement of course objectives/learning outcomes through varied teaching methods.
• Evaluate student achievement of course objectives/learning outcomes.
• Utilize feedback from students and faculty evaluations for instructional improvement.
• Utilize evidence-based research in teaching and the clinical practice of nursing.
• Demonstrate the ability to teach culturally and linguistically diverse student populations.
• Perform other duties that support the mission and strategic initiatives of WSSU and the Division of Nursing.
• Evidence of continued professional development through membership in a professional organization and/or certification in a specialty area of practice.
• Serve as a role model for students in professional, social, and civic areas.
• Conduct the clinical/practicum component of the course, correlating classroom content to clinical practice, facilitating mastery of clinical practice skills and competencies, and evaluating student competency in the clinical setting.

• Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) required for adjunct faculty teaching didactic.
• For clinical adjunct only:
  Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; MSN preferred; consideration for BSN holders with teaching and learning preparation as defined by the North Carolina Board of Nursing.
• Minimum of two years full-time employment in clinical nursing practice as a registered nurse (RN) verified by the North Carolina Board of Nursing.
• Work experience and teaching experience in medical-surgical/adult health nursing.
• Current, unrestricted RN license to practice in North Carolina.

• Experience in implementing effective teaching/learning strategies in classroom or clinical practice settings.
• Clinical expertise in medical-surgical/adult health specialty areas.
• Ability to leverage technologies that engage students in learning, including online and face-to-face instruction.
• Effective management of conflict and time.
• Experience mentoring and supporting undergraduate nursing students.
• Commitment to liberal education, diversity, equity, social justice, and social determinants of health.
• Professional growth through participation in professional organizations, conferences, workshops.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Canvas Learning Management System.
