Instructor, Paramedic

Hiring Bonus (one-time): $12,000 – payable as $1,000 per month contract month during the first year of employment.

Retention Bonus (reoccurring): $4,000 – payable as $2,000 each May and $2,000 each December.

This position provides instruction in Emergency Medical Science and advising for students pursuing the Associate of Emergency Medical Science.

• Maintain mastery of subject matter.
• Develop and/or teach courses for which the appropriate credential is held.
• Teach in various formats, locations, and via various delivery methods.
• Adhere to policies, procedures, expectations, and practices of the College, the department, and discipline.
• Communicate clearly with students, other faculty, and staff.
• Contribute to a safe and secure campus environment.
• Enforce Code of Classroom Conduct and Code of Student Conduct.
• Assist with program reviews, program accreditation, and SACSCOC accreditation as appropriate.
• Attend meetings and events and actively participate on committees and task forces.
• Attend the annual commencement ceremony.
• Uphold the College Vision, Mission, Values, and RISE statement.
• Support diversity in all aspects.
• Establish or uphold learning outcomes that are relevant and meaningful.
• Evaluate student progress in a fair, consistent, and timely manner.
• Develop, prepare, and/or deliver all levels of curriculum courses.
• Complete required professional development annually.
• Maintain professional certifications.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Associate’s degree in Emergency Medical Science;
• One year of full‑time or equivalent field experience in advanced EMS instruction;
• One year of full‑time or equivalent experience as a Paramedic at an EMS agency;
• NCOEMS Paramedic, NCOEMS Level I Paramedic Instructor (or obtain in the first 8 months of employment);
• BCLS‑I, ACLS‑I, PALS‑I (or obtain in the first 6 months of employment).

• Bachelor’s degree in EMS or Nursing;
• Experience teaching at a North Carolina community college;
• Proficiency in a foreign language such as Spanish, an East Slavic language, and/or American Sign Language.

Annual salary: $58,296 – $64,764 (non‑negotiable).

Your total compensation includes an employer contribution of 24.67 % to a defined pension plan, contributions toward medical, dental, life insurance, and accidental death & dismemberment insurance, and additional benefits that represent nearly 30 % of total compensation.
