Job DescriptionDefinition under general supervision, teaches one or more classes in the field to students in grades 6 through 12, assists in other school programs as assigned, and creates a flexible program and environment favorable to learning and personal growth in accordance with each student's ability. Duties and responsibilities include planning, organizing, and presenting instruction and providing instructional environments that help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their educational and social development.
Teaches how technology systems interact with our world related to Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics concepts (robotics, infrastructures, etc.). Instructs students in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district. Develops instructional plans and organizes class time to provide a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and working time. Provides individual and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of pupils with varying intellectual abilities, and to accommodate a variety of instructional activities.
Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior required to provide an orderly and productive studio environment. Instructs students in proper care and use of materials and equipment, storage areas, and controls the use of materials and equipment to prevent loss or abuse. Evaluates each student's performance and growth in knowledge and understanding, and prepares progress reports. Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and/or in self-selected professional growth activities.
Communicates with parents and school counselors on student progress. Cooperates in school-wide supervision of students during out-of-classroom activities. Participates in faculty and/or District committees and the sponsorship of student activities. Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities include the ability to meet the needs of all learners, plan, coordinate, and continuously improve instruction, motivate students, maintain a clean and orderly environment, analyze situations, determine possible options, and make appropriate decisions based on the facts. Ability to develop and compile records and reports, maintain order and discipline in a classroom, operate common office machines, maintain basic files and records, understand and follow oral and written instructions, speak and/or signal people to convey or exchange information, establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, teachers, parents, and administrators, communicate effectively in written and oral form, adapt to performing under stress and when confronted with emergency situations, exercise considerable tact and courtesy in frequent contact with the public, record and deliver information, explain procedures, follow oral and written instructions, skilled in assessment and using its data for teaching and learning, understanding the growth and development of assigned students, and experience with Professional Learning Communities (PLCs).
Minimum education and experience include a Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college/university in one of the following areas:
